The Micro-enterprise Inventors Program of Oregon (MIPO) and the Oregon Small Business Development Center Network (OSBDC) will host the SBIR/STTR 2012 National Conference: Crack the Code an event that welcomes entrepreneurs, businesses, government agencies, innovators, universities, and community partners to Portland, Oregon.

SBIR/STTR are competitive federal government grant programs that fund small businesses to develop innovative, high-risk technologies with the goal of increasing private sector commercialization into the marketplace.

Dr. Song is the Chief Technology Officer of Energy Storage Systems Inc. (ESS). She is the PI for ESS’ 2012 ARPA-E SBIR project of the all Iron Flow Battery Technology. Prior to joining ESS, Dr. Song was the VP of Research and Development at ClearEdge Power, where she led cross-functional scientists and engineers on all corporate R&D projects related to ClearEdge 5 – a 5kW combine-heat-and-power fuel cell system.

Dr. Song holds a B.S. in Chemistry from Peking University and a Ph.D. in Chemistry from University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. She specializes in fuel cells, batteries, electrochemistry and catalysis properties of nanoparticles. Dr. Song has authored approximately 20 publications and authored over 10 patents and patent applications.
