The Micro-enterprise Inventors Program of Oregon (MIPO) and the Oregon Small Business Development Center Network (OSBDC) will host the SBIR/STTR 2012 National Conference: Crack the Code an event that welcomes entrepreneurs, businesses, government agencies, innovators, universities, and community partners to Portland, Oregon.

SBIR/STTR are competitive federal government grant programs that fund small businesses to develop innovative, high-risk technologies with the goal of increasing private sector commercialization into the marketplace.

Russ is a life-long student of the science of business. He has worked with and been a part of small high tech companies for over 25 years. Most of these companies have participated in the SBIR/STTR programs. With both degrees in engineering (Aerospace) and business (BS, MSBA and former CPA) together with years of experience as a youth soccer coach he has an execellent understanding of early stage companies and how to facilitate their successful growth. He has been an invited speaker to National SBIR conferencees for a number of years and has a passion for designing businesses to successfully commercialize their technologies. He is a native Colorado farm kid and still has his tractor, equipment, horses (registered Percherons) and enjoys "the farm" and farming on the weekends.
